Opposite the twenty cubits[a] that belonged to the inner court, and opposite the pavement that belonged to the outer court, was gallery against gallery in three stories. In front of the chambers was a passage on the inner side, ten cubits wide and one hundred cubits[b] deep; and their doors faced north. Now the upper chambers were shorter. For the galleries were higher than these, than the lower and the middle ones of the building.
